We stand ready to place our network management expertise at the disposal of projects involving synthetic gases, green hydrogen, and carbon capture, storage, and transport.
As part of the transition to more sustainable energy sources, ORES explores new opportunities in the hydrogen sector in cooperation with Synergrid (the federation of network operators). ORES is in particular looking into the possibility of integrating hydrogen into its gas networks.
Detailed roadmaps define the transition steps, including the adaptation of Infrastructure and facilities, staff training, and the optimisation of operational processes. Strategic partnerships with hydrogen industry stakeholders ensure access to emerging technologies. In-depth tests are conducted to access the compatibility of existing equipment with hydrogen, guiding necessary adaptations. This approach ensures a secure and efficient transition, maintaining the reliability of energy distribution services at ORES.
This innovative project includes technology and legislative monitoring to keep ORES updated on advancements and to anticipate future regulations.
In addition to the increasing electrification of energy use, ORES is exploring the integration of synthetic gases (Syngas) into its gas distribution networks. This initiative includes rigorous controls to ensure the quality of Syngas and its compliance with standards. The compatibility with existing infrastructure is assessed to minimise disruptions and adaptation costs for customers.
Incorporating Syngas produced from renewable sources into its energy distribution activities would enable ORES to reduce Wallonia’s dependence on fossil fuels and to cut greenhouse gas emissions, while reinforcing energy independence.
